Bird & Wildlife Photography

March 2007
Avocets are expanding their range rapidly in England, and are now fairly common at several sites in the northwest.
Avocet (Recurvirostra avocetta)
These Black-tailed Godwits were engaged in one of the most vicious fights I've seen in a long time, with the dominant bird at one stage standing on the other's back and pecking at its head and neck as it tried desparately to swim to safety.
Black-tailed Godwits (Limosa limosa)
Also at Marshside was a male Green-winged Teal, a rare visitor from North America.
Green-winged Teal (Anas carolinensis)
Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos)
Female Pochard (Aythya ferina)
Towards the end of the month I joined a group of 18 friends and colleagues from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine for a weekend away in Snowdonia. Unusually for Wales, we had absolutely gorgeous weather...
Another trip down to Gigrin Farm yielded yet more Kite, Buzzard and Raven photos...
Red Kite (Milvus milvus)
Common Buzzard (Buteo buteo)
Common Buzzard (Buteo buteo) & Raven (Corvus corax)
Is it possible to cram more food in your bill...?
