Winter Wren
Troglodytes troglodytes
Lothian, Scotland - September 2005
Out of the 79 species of wrens in the world, the Winter Wren is the only one that occurs outside of the Americas. This widespread and hardy little species is found throughout the temperate regions of the northern hemisphere.
Lothian, Scotland - September 2005
Not only is the wren Britain's commonest bird, occupying over 8.5million territories in the most recent (2000) survey, but it is also the most widespread and is present in 97% of the 10km squares, including some very small and remote islands.
