Although the world population of this widespread albatross is approximately 3 million birds, the Black-browed Albatross is currently suffering a huge decline. In just 5 years, the breeding colonies on the Falkland Islands lost 86000 pairs. It is the albatross most commonly killed as a by-catch of the long-line fishing industry.
