Westland Petrel
(Procellaria westlandica)
The black (or dark grey in the case of the bird above) bill tip distinguishes Westland Petrel from the very similar White-chinned Petrel.
Westland petrel breeds only on the west coast of New Zealand's South Island during the winter months, and has an estimated population of about 20,000 birds.
