| Alpacas are a common domestic animal of the high Andes, kept for their highly-prized, soft, warm wool and meat. The origins of the Alpaca are hotly disputed, but the current biochemical evidence suggests it is derived from a hybrid between a Guanaco and a Vicuna. |
