American Crocodile

Crocodylus acutus

Florida, USA - December 2011

The American Crocodile is a rare and endangered species in the USA where it is restricted to the extreme southeastern coast of Florida and the Everglades.  It is distinguished from the much commoner American Alligator by its narrow, pointed snout, greyer skin colour and the teeth from both jaws are prominently visible when the jaws are closed (only teeth from the upper jaw are visible in Alligators with closed mouths).
